Torah for the Heart and Mind with Rabbi Berkman

A weekly exploration of the Torah portion through the perspective of spirituality, poetry, and mindfulness. We will explore a poetic interpretation of the text, experience a guided meditation connected to the themes of the Torah portion, and have the chance to discuss the ways themes we discover, resonate with our hearts and mind. Bring a cup of tea or coffee and start your day with this brief but meaningful time connecting with community and tradition.

What do we mean by Revelation of Torah at Sinai?

A three-part series with Rabbi Audrey Marcus Berkman
Wednesdays from 7:00-8:15pm:
May 3, 10, & 17
On Shavuot, we commemorate and celebrate “Matan Torah” – the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. This follows the seven weeks following Passover, known as the period of the Omer. We go from redemption to revelation, in our Jewish calendar, in a mere 7 weeks. The story of revelation that we find in Torah is mysterious and dramatic, and Jewish commentators have been trying to make sense of it for millennia. In this offering, we will explore texts both ancient and modern to guide us in finding contemporary relevance and insight about the meaning of Torah and how and when and why it was and still is revealed to us. When we come together to explore our tradition and to find meaning in it, we are participating in the revelation of Torah! So, come and create Torah with us. No previous background is necessary.
