Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) Observance and Documentary discussion

When

May 7, 2024
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Where

Chapel
1187 Beacon Street, Brookline

Please join Documentary Filmmaker Eva Zelig for a conversation about the film, An Unknown Country, and her family’s story of taking refuge and making a life in Ecuador. Eva will be joined by Tomás Kohn, the father/father-in-law of TOS members David and Stephanie Kohn, who will share his story as the child of refugees as well.

An Unknown Country tells the story of European Jews who escaped Nazi persecution to find refuge in an unlikely destination: Ecuador, a South American country barely known at the time. The film follows the exiles’ perilous escape and difficult adjustment as they remade their lives in what was for them an exotic, unfamiliar land.

Though the trailer of the film will be shown at this event, we hope that you will watch the film before the talk at home at the following link (https://vimeo.com/407773235  PASSWORD: exiles).

The discussion will be preceded by a short Yom HaShoah service.
On Sunday night, May 5, we encourage you to light your memorial candles, being sent to all congregant families by TOS Brotherhood

Please enter through the glass doors on Marshal Street next to the parking lot.
