Sleep has always played an important role in Judaism: it is crucial to maintaining health and wellbeing and has long been recognized as a way of rejuvenating the body and spirit. It is also a period of vulnerability, a concept acknowledged historically in Jewish practice through bedtime and waking prayers. Today, medical attention is focused on internal disruptions to sleep. This lecture will offer insights into prevalent obstacles to healthy sleep, encompassing suboptimal sleep habits and physical conditions like sleep apnea. Emerging methods of assessment and therapy allow physicians to help patients address sleep issues and live healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Our featured speaker, Dr. David Wolraich, is a comprehensive otolaryngologist physician and surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear. A graduate of Harvard University, he earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine before completing his otolaryngology training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dave and his wife Laura Weinrib, a Harvard Law School Professor, joined TOS, along with their children, Simon and Ellie, in 2019.

Ben Adler (Z”L) was a long-time member of TOS and President of the Brotherhood, beloved to so many of us. The Adler Family has generously contributed to TOS to support the Ben Adler Memorial Health Program, and we thank them again this year as we honor Ben’s memory. TOS Brotherhood is proud to co-sponsor the program with the Adler Family. An Oneg will follow the presentation.

Please enter through the glass doors on Marshal Street next to the parking lot.
