A New Partnership & Two Events

This is Lori Berry and Donna Rubenoff. We want to introduce ourselves as the co-leaders of the new temple-wide partnership that we launched in June with The Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO). GBIO works to coalesce, train, and organize the communities of Greater Boston across religious, racial, ethnic, class, and neighborhood lines for local social justice issues . You will be hearing a lot more about GBIO within our congregation at the start of the New Year. However we would like to let you know about two events sponsored by GBIO happening on Thursday, August 23rd that we hope you will join us in attending.

Candidates Accountability Night

August 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Boston Teachers Union, 180 Mt Vernon Street, Dorchester MA 02125.

This will be a large public “action” with the Suffolk and Middlesex District Attorney Candidates, the candidates for Governor and possibly more. The focus is on holding the DA candidates accountable for specific criminal justice reforms and on holding the candidates for Governor accountable for GBIO’s affordable homeownership and affordable health care proposals

Earlier that same day there will be a Grand Opening Action to make sure that Mayor Walsh keeps his commitment to the community in assuring adequate funding for this important educational program for inner city youth.

4 p.m. at the Dearborn STEM Academy at 35 Greenville Street in Roxbury

Please let Lori Berry or Donna Rubenoff know if you are planning to come to either or both of these events.

Hope to see you there!
