Please join us to enter into an important day of communal memory, mourning, and renewed hope as we observe Tisha b’Av (the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av). For thousands of years, this date has been one for fasting and mourning in remembrance of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and over time it has come to represent a time to mourn for and reflect upon other losses and challenges throughout Jewish history. Come to hear the sorrowful and beautiful sound of the book of Lamentations (Eicha) chanted in Hebrew by Cantor Maayan Harel (our B’nei Mitzvah and Family Educator), and join in song, prayer, and readings that will help us connect to the themes and emotional landscape of the day.
This candle-lit service will held in the TOS Chapel and will be led by Rabbi Berkman and Cantor Harel. We will be joined by members of Temple Israel and Temple Sinai.
