There are 4 mitzvot (sacred obligations) of Purim. Here’s how TOS is celebrating each:
Megillah – Hearing the Purim Story
The Purim shpiel will tell the story with the help of parody songs from all your favorite Broadway musicals and verses of the Megillah. RSVP here!
Seudah – Festive Meal
Join us on Monday, March 6th for the TOS Purim Celebration! Pizza dinner starts at 5:00pm, followed by a costume parade, costume contest for all ages and our Purim Shpiel and Megillah Reading. Register for dinner now!
Mishloach Manot – Sending Treats to Friends and Neighbors
During our communal Purim celebration on March 6th, we’re doing a bring-a-basket, take-a-basket! Mishloach manot traditionally contain at least 2 items – think fun treats like cookies, trail mix, popcorn, hot chocolate packs, etc. – which can be homemade or store-bought. Check out these fun ideas, and feel free to get creative! If you’d like to participate, bring your Mishloach manot basket to our Purim celebration on Monday, March 6th!
Matanot L’Evyonim – Giving “gifts to the poor”
Please support our commitment to Family Table and bring a can of tuna or whole wheat cereal to the Purim Carnival on Sunday, 3/5 or our Purim Shpiel on Monday, 3/6.
Please pre-register and let us know who will be joining us and how many tokens you would like to purchase. By pre-registering, you will be given (4) FREE TOKENS for the Carnival, which you can pick up at the registration table on Sunday, March 5th. Our Purim Carnival will run from 3:00-5:00pm, with a special time for our TCEE friends (ages 0-5) from 3:00-3:30pm. There is no entry fee for the carnival, but we will be selling game tokens at the door, as well as snacks and beverages. We hope you will join us and bring all your friends!!
If you have any questions, please email Cassie Dezii at cdezii@ohabei.org
