Temple Ohabei Shalom will be co-hosting Brookline’s community-wide 3rd annual Blessing of the F(l)eet: An Interfaith Celebration of How We Move.
The Blessing of the Fleet is a centuries-old tradition in Mediterranean and New England fishing communities in which local clergy bless fishing vessels to ensure a safe and bountiful season. We will raise our voices in song and express our gratitude for our bodies and for all of the mobility devices that help us move through the world!
You are invited to bring your walkers, wheelchairs, canes, scooters, and whatever else helps keep you going for a blessing. We will gather in front of the Brookline Historical Society at 347 Harvard Street for blessing and celebration at 1:30pm on Thursday, September 19 (Rain Date: September 26).
