Did you know that only 1% of refugees gain permanent safe residency in another country? What effect does statelessness have on people, even beyond economics?

Professor Serena Parekh will address these and many other issues as we consider our response, as a community and as a nation to the current refugee crisis.

Dr. Parekh is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Northeastern University where she is the director of the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics Program. Her most recent book is Refugees and the Ethics of Forced Displacement, which was published by Routledge in 2017.

After our Friday Night Lights service, join us for a savory oneg and a special musical interlude.

For my Bar Mitzvah project, I am collecting diapers and wipes to send to a Syrian refugee camp. I got the idea from my mom telling me about the collections Lisa Wilkins is doing with NuDay Syria, and I wanted to help. My mom set up a collection box at the Marshal Street entrance to TOS/TCEE. Please help by bringing diapers and wipes to donate to Syrian refugee children.

Thank you for your support!
