Education
Whether age one or one hundred, lifelong learning is at the core of Temple Ohabei Shalom.
Ansin Reigious School
Our students come from many different neighborhoods and backgrounds, learning together as one vibrant and caring community. As innovators, we break the traditional Hebrew school mold allowing students to feel at home the minute they walk through the door. We offer individualized learning plans and accommodations for students with special needs, whether Jewish studies, Hebrew, or bar/bat mitzvah instruction. More Religious School information can be found here.
Bar and Bat Mitzvah Study
Temple Ohabei Shalom has called young Jews to the bimah for 175 years. Working with our capable teachers, Rabbi Audrey Berkman, Rabbi Daniel Schaefer, and our teachers spend a thoughtful year preparing your child for this most precious of occasions.
Our historic sanctuary as a backdrop adds just the right amount of tradition to innovative and inspiring B’nei Mitzvah services. With full caterer’s kitchens and banquet halls, our Event Production Coordinator is ready to help you plan your family’s special day.
Trust Center for Early Education
TCEE fosters the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth of
small children in a safe, loving, nurturing environment infused with Jewish values. TCEE exists to impart a love of learning; to develop children’s skills, independence, and self-confidence; and to engage families in our vibrant Jewish community. Our unique all-day early childhood program supports and contributes to our mission of lifelong Jewish learning: building and enhancing our extended Jewish community.
Awards and Accolades
- In March 2012, Brookline Patch readers named the Trust Center Brookline’s Best Preschool/Daycare.
- In 2011 two of our teachers received a Technology Fellowship from Combined Jewish Philanthropies.
Lifelong Learning
Wisdom is a lifelong pursuit. We learn through serious engagement in sacred texts and finding wisdom in all opportunities that life presents. Below is a partial list of our adult learning opportunities and informal learning occurs during events and in other less structured environments around our campus. Find your jumping off point and grow!
Shabbats and Lecture Series
Joining Rabbi Berkman and Rabbi Schaefer to complement our worship, we are privileged to have a diverse group of teachers and lecturers share their perspectives on special Shabbat evenings. Enjoy lively discussions after services joined with visiting teachers. Rooted in Hasidism, Talmud, feminist thought, Social Action and more, our lecturers and scholars offer profound and refreshing insights into Torah.
One Saturday morning each month we have Shabbat Morning B'yachad. These mornings include tot shabbat, Torah study, services, and a Kiddush lunch.
Please check the calendar for a complete description of upcoming Shabbats.
