Relief for Haiti
On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 quake struck Haiti, already the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. With the devastating death toll rising, Haiti remains in crisis with food shortages, lack of drinkable water, inadequate healthcare, human trafficking, and a destroyed infrastructure. Read below to see a message on the crisis from Rabbi Franken and to learn more about how you can help.
A message from Rabbi Franken:
In a sacred covenant with our God, we Jews are bound to respond with compassion to our nighbor's travails and to rescue those in distress. In this time of great sadness and peril for our brothers and sisters in Haiti, it behooves each one of us to bolster relief efforts in Haiti. Worthy organization include the American Jewish World Services, Union for Reform Judaism, International Rescue Committee, and UNICEF. Thank you in advance for not standing idly by the blood of our neighbors! (Leviticus 19)
